In March 2025, our Sanación y Conexión Program began a food delivery program in partnership with the Food Bank of Santa Barbara and Drivers Listos volunteer drivers to bring food directly to the homes of our most vulnerable clients in Santa Barbara County.

What began as a small venture has now expanded to communities across the tri-counties. Our volunteers have been a tremendous help during these unprecedented times when our community faces threats of ICE kidnappings and funding cuts to Calfresh. This has left our families fearful of visiting food banks, due to the risk of public detention, and unable to apply for SNAP benefits. Additionally, many lack transportation to access local food banks or cannot visit because they work all day to keep up with the cost of living.

As the need for greater food access increases, our volunteers are calling for community members to bridge this service gap by bringing food directly to people's homes. Sanación y Conexión is leading this effort alongside a team of trusted volunteer delivery drivers in the Tri-County area. We urgently need volunteers in the Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo areas where the need has increased significantly. Our coordinators hope to find volunteers who have reliable vehicles, can maintain a high level of confidentiality, and are able to dedicate a few hours each month to advance food justice for our families.
