Our Services
Removal Defense
ILDC provides full-scope removal defense representation to individuals in detention and those navigating immigration court proceedings after release, including unaccompanied immigrant children, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable community members.
Counseling and Case Management
Our Healing and Connection team works to mitigate the trauma-related impacts of immigration policies and enforcement. This program is composed of case managers and clinical therapists, trained on the fundamentals of immigration law, enabling them to understand how the legal system directly affects our clients’ overall well-being and to provide informed trauma-responsive support.
Freedom Through Federal Advocacy
ILDC’ s Freedom Through Due Process Program provides federal court representation to immigrants subjected to unlawful or prolonged detention. Through habeas corpus petitions, our attorneys challenge due process violations and seek the release of community members who have been deprived of their liberty without meaningful legal review. This innovative program serves as a critical safeguard against unlawful detention, reunites families, and ensures that constitutional protections apply to all people regardless of immigration status.
Opening Pathways to Legal Permanent Residency for Youths
ILDC works to provide safety, stability, and long-term security for children and youth who have experienced abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) is a form of immigration relief available to undocumented youth who cannot reunify with one or both parents due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment, and for whom returning to their home country is not in their best interest. This protection offers a pathway to lawful permanent residence and, ultimately, U.S. citizenship.
